Front Porch Project - The Gift of Time Together

Scroll down to see our families...

PHOTOGRAPHED AT A 30 FOOT DISTANCE!

How it Works...

During this ordeal, we have been given a small gift - the gift of TIME WITH OUR FAMILIES!  So many of us are reconnecting with our families without the logistical scheduling challenges that often keep us apart (work, meetings, school and extracurricular activities).

It is a difficult time for so many and I am grateful that we are here close to family, all of us are healthy and safe and also grateful for all the people continuing to work, and on the front lines. I have been thinking about how I can put my talent to use and capture this incredibly historic time in our country’s history as well in our families. I have never seen or experienced anything quite like what our country and our world is dealing with right now.

I believe I found a way to do something in a safe and responsible way (following all current CDC and Government policies of social distancing as it is allowed) while doing something that is important to me, and I hope your family as well.

 The Front Porch Project:

 - I photograph your family on your home’s front porch while we both abide by the current CDC approved guidelines for social distancing (I exceed that at a distance of 20-30 feet from your family).

 - I want to know what you are feeling, how you are coping and what are some of the positives you can share with your community. My goal is to  share how important we are to each other during this crisis through a beautiful image of your family. Your portrait will be shared on my website, social networks and in printed materials along with your story.

 - I will be photographing from that safe distance  (between 20-30 feet away) creating an environmental portrait of your family. Although the final photograph may appear that I am closer to you than my 20-30 foot distance, it is because of my utilization of equipment and lighting!

  - You will also receive my favorite posted image as a shareable file as a thank you for participating. You will also receive a link to view and order prints online for your home.

 - I am looking to feature the families of Northwestern CT - our Quiet Corner. ( Litchfield, Goshen, Morris, Warren, Northfield, Thomaston, Woodbury, Bethlehem and Winsted)

If you are interested please fill out this form! I will review all forms and based on location and approximate to one another, let you know of when and if I can make it out to your area. Sessions are only 15 minutes long.

I hope to talk with you soon!

Stay safe!  - Jill

I AM INTERESTED!

The McIntosh Family - Front Porch Project

Please tell us how this time is affecting your family?(Both the Negative and the Positive):
Sense of togetherness has grown. But we are missing out on some pretty important events, especially for our senior.

What is something POSITIVE that you plan to take away from this difficult time?
Having all my girls under one roof again. Family dinners

What are some of the concerns you or your children have, or something you would like to share during this time?
We worry about our loved ones being safe but also the overall effect of all of this.

The Garden Family - Front Porch Project

Please tell us how this time is affecting your family?(Both the Negative and the Positive):

Negatively- loss of work and income which equals a good deal of stress. We miss the social aspects of our lives before corona virus: spending time with extended family, especially my aging parents, going out to restaurants, bars, shopping, movies, the gym, church and especially hair appointments! My kids miss being away at college and attending high school and seeing friends and teachers in person. My youngest is missing her final season of Track and Field. My oldest misses working. We all missed going on vacation this year and my youngest missed being able to attend Accepted Students Day at the college she hopes to attend in the Fall.

Positively- so much more together time! We have been playing games together and watching movies together and it's so nice to have a full crew at the dinner table every night. Many projects are happening in our home, including rooms getting painted, pantry and closets being cleaned out and organized. Mitch and I started working out together to YouTube Hiit and Ab videos. I look forward to that time together every day. And my animals must love Corona Virus! They have so much more company and are getting tons of love, playtime and walks.

What is something POSITIVE that you plan to take away from this difficult time?

Take nothing for granted! Make the most of every moment!
Stay close to family and friends! Enjoy what you have in life.

What are some of the concerns you or your children have, or something you would like to share during this time?

Mostly I worry for my children and children everywhere. Isolation isn't healthy for the mind or spirit. I worry that life won't return as we knew if before and I worry that my kids won't get to go back to college in the Fall. They miss every aspect of school life and they do not enjoy distance leaning, but they are making the best of it. I worry what will happen if this goes on much longer.

The Barnes Family - Front Porch Project

The Barnes Family

Please tell us how this time is affecting your family?(Both the Negative and the Positive):
The positive is that we get to slow down and spend more time together. But the isolation is really hard on the kids and it results in much more screen time than we (or they) would like.

What is something POSITIVE that you plan to take away from this difficult time?
We all need to slow down and stop planning every minute of every day. How nice is it to see absolutely nothing on your calendar, being able to do projects without thinking about all the other things you need to be doing? Being able to spend time together as a family has been the nicest part of this.
What are some of the concerns you or your children have, or something you would like to share during this time?
We are lucky in that we are both still working but the uncertainty is really hard on the kids. Not having sports, not being able to be with friends, no senior year activities. Having Sam's last few months cancelled was bad enough but not knowing what will happen in the Fall or even next month is stressful. That said, they are handling it remarkably well. Thankful for social media!
