This award winning image is probably the one that gets the most comments when people come and visit my studio. It is so often likened to the movie Twilight. This was a completely collaborative off the cuff moment between the bride and I. We were walking around beautiful Wickham Park in Glastonbury, Connecticut and as we passed by this clearing, I said "Wow, it would be so cool to do something in those ferns". I looked at the bride, and she gave me a Mr. Spock eyebrow raise as a huge mischievous grin crossed her face. I asked her if she was up for climbing into the ferns in her beautiful white dress. I didn't even have time to finish my sentence- she was already walking into the clearing! After a little setup and getting everybody squared away, we had this amazing shot. With the exception of the bride, I had all the bridesmaids look anywhere but at me, and had their flowers anywhere but in the regular spot at their waist. I love what they came up with and I didn't change a thing. The bride's stance and flower position as well as her expression reflects her bold, dynamic personality! During our print competition, the judges commented that they were not a fan of the positioning of her flowers in a non traditional way. I disagree. I love it! So did she! It's who she is. Good things happened when you let people be themselves!
